On Saturday, June 6, I was at it again. Working on the Women Build. Actually, I was roofing it. Have I mentioned how much I'm enjoying this? Well, I have to say that this has been a great experience for me. For most of the day I was the only woman on the roof. I worked alongside a man from the Bend Police Dept. and we had a great time figuring out how to lay the shingles and to make sure they were going on straight. We snapped chalk lines and measured and we got to use nail guns! I tell ya, those things are serious and made me feel like I realy knew what I was doing. Thankfully, I didn't nail my foot or leg to the roof.
It was a gorgeous day which made it even better and I've noticed that people working on a Habitat site are having fun! If you come out on your free time to volunteer with Habitat that says a lot! Habitat can't build homes without volunteers. We don't have a construction crew, we rely on volunteers to build our homes which helps keep the cost of building the home down. This makes it possible for our Habitat families to purchase these homes at an affordable price.
We still need to finish roofing the Women Build. We still need lots of people with the heart of service to finish all three of the homes on our Blakely Rd. site. If you would like to get involved, please contact me,

To those of you that are currently involved with us, thank you so much for your energy, time and heart of service!
