We received a unique donation this week. A middle school aged boy came into our office and handed us the donation. It had been sent to him by another boy his age who had asked him to choose a worthy cause to donate the money to. I admit at first I was lost but then I read a letter composed by the boy who originated the donation and I was so impressed with the idea; I just have to share it.
The young man was celebrating his Bar Mitzvah. Part of his journey to manhood is to complete a community service project. He knew, like so many before him, he could raise money and donate it or volunteer time. But he wanted to take it one step further. He wanted others to feel the joy of community service. So he is passing out money he has raised to other kids his age with instructions to donate it or otherwise put it to a purpose for those in need.
