Snow and Wind...

As I pulled out of my parking spot last night a splash of pink and yellow caught my attention.  My favorite flowers are tulips and the bulbs planted in our borders here at the BAHfH office are in bloom. How nice.

But wait a minute.  Nature did not deposit those bulbs in the ground.  Weren’t there just weeds in that newly sprung garden last week?  Do we have garden gnomes?  No, we have Janet and Jerry Shipps.  They’ve been quietly tending our landscaping for…um…ever, I think.  Each season perennials emerge and a complement of annuals are added. The pesky weeds are eradicated and any extra water requirements are tended to.  Sidewalks are swept, spent flowers are deadheaded.  And I think all of this might happen by moonlight because we rarely see our landscapers in action.

It is so easy to take work like this for granted.  But being a very lazy gardener myself, I thoroughly appreciate the dedication they put into keeping our landscaping fresh and clean and then preparing for its winter hiatus.  We are so very lucky to have Janet and Jerry.  We hope they know that we don’t take them for granted and that we appreciate the fruits of their labors each time we pull in or out of our parking spots.

Yes, thank you Janet and Jerry. I've been enjoying the cheery flowers as well and noticed all the weeds are gone! Thanks again.

I am buying a Garden gnome and putting it in your Garden! I was just going to do it without telling you; But I thought that might freak you out, so I am giving you warning lol.

Jessica, that would be something awesome to find a gnome in the garden!
