Most home bakers know that pizza stones are ideal for obtaining a rustic hearth-style crust on breads and dough. There are many commercially manufactured pizza stones available on the market, however, the rustic baker did not start at the kitchen supply store, and neither must you. Sometimes you can find these at the Restore for a fraction of the cost of commercial baking tiles!

Crook County Families

Simmons Family

Gina and her children: Tyler, Tiffany, Travis and Thomas.

When Gina found out that she was chosen to be a partner family with Habitat for Humanity she felt very fortunate. The opportunity to have her own home has been a dream come true.

Parks family

Ed and Sonya Parks have been renting houses for the entire time they have been married (14 years) and have enjoyed taking care of these homes as if they were our own.

They both grew up in Klamath County and it was a difficult decision and big step for them to relocate to Prineville and leave their families. Ed is presently employed with SMAF Construction in Prineville and travels all over Oregon, Washington, Idaho and California hauling different products.

They have made many friends and take part in many community activities. They are both active in their church, Prineville Presbyterian Church, Sonya is a deacon and teaches Sunday school as well as being involved in other church activities. Sonya is also very busy coaching their sonTroy's T-ball and soccer teams and is a Cub Scout den leader. They have a plot in the community garden at their church and we enjoy working it and getting advice from other people who can help them with their crops. .

They are very excited about the possibility of having a home of their own and would take wonderful care of it. And are willing to do whatever is necessary to better their lives.

Will Family
On Saturday June 28, 2008 Habitat for Humanity in Crook County celebrated the dedication of a new home for the Will family. Rich and Lana Will, along with their young daughters Autumn and Olivia, purchased the home from Habitat after completing hundreds of ours of volunteer work or "sweat equity."

The day was a great celebration of the hard work the Wills have done, and of the generosity of so many volunteers and donors to have this home completed. The family was presented with two quilts made by Habitat volunteers, a song performed by a friend and a literal truckload of groceries from the folks at Grocery Outlet.

The kids in the last picture are (L to R): Autumn, Brianne (friend), Olivia, and Walker (friend). They are standing in Olivias new bedroom.
