Bierschenk Family
Tatiana "Tanya” Bierschenk was born and raised in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan (former USSR Republic). At 16 she moved to Kazan, Russia, where she lived until she moved to the United States. Tanya’s daughter is 9 years old and likes to draw, sing and play her rocking recorder. She is also a big Pokemon fan. Tanya proudly shares, "My daughter and I are a good team. We always help and support each other no matter what.”
Tanya works at Bend Broadband as a Technology Engineer and has lived in Bend for 3 years. When asked about Central Oregon, Tanya said "I like the view and the nature and landscape are amazing here. Bend is the best town to raise children. I also like that we have all four seasons here.” She originally heard about Habitat for Humanity from another family who was going through the program.
Tanya said "I would not be able to purchase a home by myself. It would be impossible for me to get a loan with a low or no interest rate in the bank. Habitat gives me a chance to live the American dream.” She also expressed that owning a home will give her a sense of stability and security. Only having volunteered some at her daughter’s school, Tanya expresses that "Habitat’s sweat equity requirements gave me an opportunity to acquire so many different skills such as construction, retail, and communication.”
