Rachelle Nickelson Family

Rachelle was born and raised in California but moved to Oregon to "start a new life”. She and her two children, Anthony and Lillian, are so excited to have a home of their own. "Without Habitat”, says Rachelle, "my chance of getting into a home was slim to none. Habitat has already impacted my life in a major way.”

Rachelle’s dream is to own her own home so that her kids have a place to grow up. Anthony, who is of Japanese heritage, is very much into "all things Japanese” as well as drawing and Legos, exclaims Rachelle. And Lillian is very inquisitive and is "interested in just about everything”.

 
Rachelle is very proud of her work at Bend Villa Retirement Center . She started there as a volunteer and became connected with the residents until they eventually encouraged her to apply for a position. Her persistence and compassion won them over.

Rachelle will be attending the homeownership classes and completing 400 hours of sweat equity with the goal of purchasing her own home in 2012.
