About: Board of Directors
Our Board of Directors is a committed group of people from the community. Each member brings with them their own unique set of skills and knowledge. The BoD is a keystone in the continued succes of Bend Area Habitat for Humanity. The Board of Directors meets the last Wednesday of each month.
Richard Berg is a financial advisor for MassMutual Financial Group with his wife, Selina Witt. Richard serves on the Vima Lupwa board of directors and is the chairperson of Nativity Lutheran Church. Richard has been involved with Habitat for Humanity in Phoenix, Arizona, Sisters and Bend. He was honored to be included in the October, 2007 Jimmy Carter Build in Los Angeles. In addition to Habitat, Richard assists with various senior and homeless issues in the greater Central Oregon area.

Jo Conover is an expert in sustainable design and construction project management, a LEED Accredited Professional and co-founder and former Chair of the Northern California Chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council. Jo is the Principal at Bennington/Conover & Associates. She has an MBA degree from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business.

Barbara Tyler started life in Sweet Home, Oregon, the youngest of 5 children of very hard working and loving parents. She moved with her family to Alaska as a young girl then moved to Bend, Oregon for adulthood and the raising of two amazing children (presently pursuing their own passions in various parts of the world). She has had a certified public accounting practice in Bend for over 20 years, working with small business issues, tax problems for businesses, trusts, estates and individuals. When not working she spends most of her time with family and friends playing somewhere in the beautiful Cascade Mountains.

Bob Cudlin moved to Bend 5 years ago after a career in the energy industry including work at the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, the U.S. Senate and with several management consulting firms. He is one of our "regular" construction volunteers helping to build Habitat houses three days a week and has been on the Board since 2007. He has BS and MS degrees in engineering and the juris doctor degree in law.

Bree Beal has been a part of the Central Oregon community for more than 20 years. She currently works as an escrow officer at Western Title & Escrow Company. Over the last two years she has had the privilege of getting to know BAHfH as their escrow officer and as a volunteer.

Green Building Consultant with Earth Advantage, Inc., Bruce has been involved in energy efficient construction since 1983. He has worked for the Oregon State University Extension Service, Eugene Water & Electric Board and Iris Communications, Inc. In 1996, he established Oikos.com one of the world's first websites dedicated to green building. Bruce has served in serveral volunteer organizations including the Building Green Council of Central Oregon and the Lorane Rural Fire Protection District.

Carole rejoined the Board after a three year break during which she continued her work building stronger support for Bend Habitat from Bend's churches and other faith groups. Carole, herself, belongs to First Presbyterian that was in on the start of Bend Habitat in 1989.

Chelsea Schneider is a landscape architect with WHPacific and is active in the local section of the American Society of Landscape Architects. When not helping to clean up streetscapes or create community gardens, she enjoys exploring and photographing Oregon’s great places with her husband and young daughter.

Cindi O?Neil, Vice President Sales and Marketing, SolAire Homebuilders As Vice President and Co-Owner of SolAire Homebuilders, Cindi provides marketing & sales oversight, green building materials research, and energy efficiency building guidance to the SolAire team. Promoting sustainable building concepts and green building practices at SolAire is a natural fit for Cindi. Prior to joining SolAire in 2005, Cindi dedicated twenty-five years of her life to natural resource conservation and protection. Her Master's Degree in Plant Ecology from the University of Montana led her to protecting natural habitats for rare species for the Nature Conservancy and then later leading integrated planning teams for sustainable forestry with the US Forest Service here in Bend, Oregon. Public relations, marketing, financial management, fundraising, field research, deep ecology, and leadership of interdisciplinary natural resource teams are all part of her past experience. Outside the workplace Cindi seeks the solace of the natural environment for recreation and recharge. Hiking, backpacking, biking, fly fishing and cross country skiing are her favorite outdoor pastimes.

Darrel offers BAHfH an extensive 35 years of experience in public relations. He has lent his talents to enhance the success of fund raising events and to help us boost our public relations through out the community. Darrel is also a regular volunteer on the construction site building houses alongside other volunteers and future homeowners.

Geoff has been a 'regular' on the construction crew and a member of the Finance committee for over a year. By joining our board, Geoff shares his rich background with us. He worked for The Gillette Company for 25 years in varied executive management positions ranging from finance, operations, IT and strategic planning. He's a member in good standing of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants and an associate member of International Chartered Accountants and U.S. CPA Associations.

Jeremy is an attorney in Bend. He has served as legal counsel to various non-profit organizations. A volunteer at heart, Jeremy has provided many services to his churches and schools over the years. His non-profit experience combined with his volunteer spirit will add solid legal position to our board.

Jim Larson is married to JoAnne. They have two adult daughters and one granddaughter, all of whom live in Central Oregon. Jim was born and grew up in Portland, and graduated from Lewis and Clark College. He then spent four and one half years on Active duty in the Navy. After release from active duty he attended and graduated from Willamette University College of Law. In 1971 they moved to Prineville where Jim practiced law until he recently retired. Since moving to Prineville he has been active in numerous community service activities, including the Kiwanis Club, the Lutheran church, the board of Pioneer Memorial Hospital, the library board and as a member of the board and treasurer of the Crooked River Roundup. He also remained in the Naval Reserve until he had completed 20 years of service. He became involved with Habitat for Humanity in 2008 when he became a member of the Crook County Steering Committee and now one of our Board Members.

John Weekley has a BS from USMA West Point, and a MBA from UT Arlington. He brings 30 years of experience in high technology management and is a Certified Sustainable Building Advisor. John is a volunteer on the construction site and a family mentor.

ML offers extensive training in architecture and sustainable building. ML operates a sustainable consulting business with experience in LEED projects and she coordinates the Sustainable Building Advisor Course at COCC. ML has been actively involved in the design and build process of BAHfH?s homes since 2005. She helped write the affiliate?s Green Building Guidelines. ML realized that after her direct and extended involvement with our affiliate the next natural involvement was to join the board of directors.

Sean has been a member of the Family Selection Committee. As a board member, Sean plans to raise awareness of the need for affordable housing in our community. He says his involvement with the Family Selection Committee has piqued his interest and now he'd like to offer his business management and speaking skills as a tool for the board of directors

Sylvia moved to Bend seven years ago from Davis, CA, after retiring from a rather long career in the California State Legislature. Bend Area Habitat for Humanity has presented a rewarding opportunity for volunteer service and Sylvia appreciates the very good work of the organization.
