Volunteer Highlight

Brian Farmer
If you’ve wandered onto the ReStore’s Lot 2, there’s a good chance you were greeted by an energetic fellow with bright yellow earplugs dangling off of the sides of his head (more on this later) .   He definitely would have had a smile on his face .   This fellow, Brian Farmer, started working here a little over a year ago through the COIC Jobs program .   He quickly became one of our key volunteers .   He learned to run the forklift and jumped on board the deconstruction crew to help out with the Inn of the 7th Mountain project, where he impressed the volunteer crew leader with his outstanding work ethic and positive attitude.

Months ago, Brian moved on from the COIC program but just kept showing up . Since then, he’s averaged 16 hours each week, plus two full weeks pulling siding on the 7th Mountain deconstruction project!  We are so thankful to have him on the team .
So back to the yellow earplugs… Brian loves to talk them up on the lot, and you NEVER see him without them .   He patented the handy dandy contractor accessories, "Attachable Earplugs”, had them manufactured, and is now selling them – just waiting for the big order to come in that will change his life forever .   Simple but revolutionary, these earplugs attach to sun or safety glasses so they’re always handy (no more excuses for power tool – related hearing loss, ladies and gentlemen!) .
On July 3rd, Brian’s wife Deanna gave birth to Clarity Neriah Farmer, a 7 pound 13 ounce beautiful baby girl .   Bellah Farmer is now a proud sister .   We want to thank Brian for his hard work on behalf of Habitat and the ReStore, and wish his family and their new addition well .
